Historical Background
Sri Gadadhara Pandita was born to Sri Madhva Misra and Sri Ratnavati-Devi in Navadvipa. He was Mahaprabhu's classmate and closest childhood friend. He is considered the embodiment of Srimati Radharani's mood. He took initiation from Pundarika Vidyanidhi and remained by Mahaprabhu's side throughout His pastimes, uniquely able to pacify the Lord during His moods of separation from Krishna.
Spiritual Significance
Sri Gadadhara Pandita is one of the Pancha-tattva, representing the internal pleasure potency (Hladini-shakti) of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He is the embodiment of Srimati Radharani's divine mood. His unique position is such that only he could pacify Lord Caitanya during intense moods of separation. He is worshipped alongside Lord Caitanya as "Gadai-Gauranga."
